Dan Sommer has spent more than fifteen years working at the intersection of accessibility, language, communication access, and technology.

His work has included real-time transcription, captioning, audio description, accessibility consulting, AI-assisted workflows, and large-scale language and communication projects. Across these roles, he has often served as a bridge between technical systems, human expertise, client needs, and the lived experience of people relying on access services.

Before much of his work in accessibility and technology, Dan spent more than a decade as a professional classical singer and diction teacher. That background shaped the way he thinks about communication: listening closely, understanding context, adapting to different learners, and helping people build confidence with complex skills.

AI in Human Hands grew out of Dan's ongoing work with communities, professional groups, and organizations trying to make sense of emerging technology without reducing the conversation to hype or fear.

His approach is practical, curious, and human-centered. He helps groups explore what new tools can and cannot do, where human judgment still matters, and how people can navigate change thoughtfully together.
